1. Introduction
Preglina ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have as a user.
By using the Preglina app, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account details — name and email address (or your Google account identity via Google Sign-In).
- Reproductive and menstrual health data — period dates, cycle length, ovulation-test (OPK) results, basal body temperature (BBT), cervical mucus observations, intercourse logs, and fertile-window tracking.
- Pregnancy data — due date, gestational week, life stage (TTC / Pregnant / Postpartum), pregnancy symptoms, fundal height, kick counts, contraction timing, birth plan details, and hospital bag checklist.
- Postpartum and baby data — baby name, date of birth, feeding logs, diaper logs, pumping logs, sleep logs, baby weight and growth measurements, milestone records, and first-foods introduction logs.
- Health metrics — body weight, BMI, blood pressure, blood glucose, water intake, supplements, and medication records.
- Mental and emotional health data — mood check-ins, journal entries, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) responses, and wellness activity.
- Vaccination and appointment records — vaccination dates and appointment reminders you create.
- Community content — posts, comments, and replies you submit in the birth club or community features.
- AI conversations — messages you send to Lina, our AI health assistant.
- Photos — images you upload to your photo journal.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage data — screens visited, features used, session duration, and interactions, collected via Firebase Analytics to help us understand and improve the app.
- Performance data — app start time, network latency, and crash traces, collected via Firebase Performance Monitoring.
- Device identifiers — Firebase installation ID and push-notification token used to deliver reminders via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Purchase information — subscription status and transaction identifiers processed through Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your full payment details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, personalise, and improve the app (tracking, insights, and recommendations).
- Operate Lina AI — your messages are sent to Google Gemini to generate responses.
- Send push notifications and reminders you have enabled.
- Analyse anonymised usage patterns to improve features.
- Monitor app performance and fix crashes.
- Process subscription payments.
- Respond to your support enquiries.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. How Long We Retain Your Data
Active account
All personal and health data associated with your account is retained for as long as your account remains active, so your full tracking history is available across devices and reinstalls.
After account deletion
When you delete your account (Profile → Settings → Delete account, or by emailing support@preglina.com), all of your personal data and health data on our servers is permanently deleted within 30 days of the deletion request. Backup copies containing your data are rotated out and destroyed within 90 days of the request.
AI conversation messages
Messages you send to Lina are transmitted to Google Gemini to generate a response. Preglina does not store your Lina conversation history on our servers beyond your active session. Any retention of prompts by Google is governed by Google's Gemini API terms.
Analytics and performance data
Aggregated, anonymised usage and performance data collected via Firebase Analytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring is retained for up to 14 months, in line with Google's default Firebase data-retention settings.
Push notification tokens
Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens are deleted from our servers when you disable notifications in the app or when your account is deleted.
Community content
Posts and comments you submit are deleted when you remove the content yourself or when your account is deleted.
Legal holds
We may retain certain data for longer periods if required to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our agreements. We will inform you to the extent permitted by law.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances.
5.1 Third-party service providers
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Analytics, Performance Monitoring, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging) — used for account sign-in, usage analytics, performance monitoring, and push notifications. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In — used for account creation and login with a Google account. Shares your Google name and email with us. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini API — powers Lina AI. Your chat messages, which may include health context, are sent to Google Gemini to generate responses. Gemini API Terms.
- Google Play Billing — processes in-app subscription purchases. We receive only transaction identifiers, not full payment details. Google Play Terms.
- Preglina servers (preglina.com/api) — our own backend that stores and syncs all the data you enter. Covered entirely by this Privacy Policy.
5.2 Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or a governmental authority, or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm.
5.3 Business transfers
If Preglina is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
6. Data Security
All data is transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections. Health and personal data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest. We use Firebase's industry-standard security infrastructure for authentication and storage. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis.
No transmission or storage method is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@preglina.com.
7. Your Rights
You have the right at any time to:
- Access your data — request an export by emailing us.
- Correct inaccurate data — edit it directly in the app.
- Delete your data — use Profile → Settings → Delete account, or email us. All server-side data is erased within 30 days (see Section 4).
- Restrict processing — contact us; note that restricting core processing may make the service unavailable.
- Withdraw consent — for consent-based features (AI assistant, push notifications), withdraw at any time via app settings or by contacting us.
To exercise any right, email support@preglina.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Preglina is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Medical Disclaimer
Preglina provides general health information and tracking tools only. The app — including Lina AI — does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Content is for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for any medical questions or concerns.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you via an in-app notice or email before they take effect. Continued use of the app after an updated policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
